UNITED WE STAND… FOR ARCHAEOLOGY
In 1999, about thirty individuals and groups came together to found Réseau Archéo-Québec, motivated by a desire to communicate their love of Quebec archaeology to as wide a public as possible. Today, this not-for-profit association has some one hundred members, dedicated to studying, protecting and developing Quebec’s archaeological heritage.
While the network’s members offer opportunities for direct contact with archaeology, its administrators devote their efforts to:
-
thinking up original and complementary products that both encourage new and diverse clienteles to discover archaeology and that make it easier for member sites to reach their goals with respect to outreach, visitation and tourism visibility;
-
developing and co-ordinating activities that are likely to appeal to the general public and spark an interest in Quebec archaeology during Quebec Archaeo Month;
-
facilitating relations between Quebec’s archaeological sites and other players in the fields of politics, culture and tourism, particularly through the creation of alliances with the tourism industry, so as to have better contact with national and international clienteles.
